Now Mixing in Dolby Atmos

Really excited to be working in this format. I have recently updated my mixing rig to include Dolby Atmos mixes (Immersive Audio Mixing). I can either mix just in Dolby Atmos or after we run down the stereo mixes break out new mixes in to Dolby Atmos immediately after we finish up the stereo mixes.

For those of you that are not hip to Dolby Atmos I encourage to listen to some albums on either Tidal or Amazon HD who are both streaming in Dolby Atmos. Apple has just announced it will be streaming Dolby Atmos as well in June of 2021. Another name for Dolby Atmos is “Immersive Audio”. Basically a new version of surround sound for music. The good news is you don’t need a huge surround setup at your house to hear it. You can also listen on compatible portable devices as well as sound bars. You can find a list of compatible devices here.

If you are not on a label you can still use Avid Play to distribute your Dolby Atmos mixes yourself. Currently there are not many independent artists distributing their music in Dolby Atmos so it could also be another way to stand out and be found when people are looking for music to play on their new Dolby Atmos devices.
